Welded Steel Tube
Tubecon manufactures and supply a large variety of cold formed welded steel tubes and pipes, ranging from small precision drawn tubes to larger diameter big bore tubes. Consequently, we supply to a very broad spectrum of markets, ranging from furniture and household appliances through automotive and machine building to mining and construction. This is an indication of the diversity not only of our products, but also of the logistical capabilities of our company. With our head office in Pretoria, Gauteng, a branch in Cape Town and almost daily deliveries to Durban and Bloemfontein we ensure that we can supply our steel tubes and cold formed sections to as much of the South African market as possible.
Welded steel tubes are commonly available and supplied in hot rolled and cold rolled material and can be rolled/cut to length for our customers. Pressure testing can also be done in-house. Cold rolled tubes are generally stocked as either fin controlled or internally scarfed.
Various materials are used in the cold-forming of these welded sections. Materials that are readily available include: SAE1008 (Commercial grade mild steel), SA1010 (Cold rolled steel), S355 (High tensile mild steel), 3CR12 (Stainless steel), Corten A, Z275 and Z450 (pre-galvanized materials). These steel tubes are manufactured according to a variety of specifications and can be seen in the table below:

Electrical Conduit and electrical conduit accessories
For more than 30 years Tubecon has been in the steel electrical conduit game in South Africa. We supply both the "Light weight conduit" ("light weight electrical conduit") as well as the "screwed and socketed conduit" ("screwed and socketed electrical conduit") . Electrical conduit dimensions are listed on the technical pages of our site but brief list of the electrical conduit sizes is given here: 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 50 mm. Electrical conduit lengths is 4m in South Africa and has to comply to the SABS mark
Lipped channels and steel open sections
Lipped channel and open sections of any desired dimension can be manufactured by Tubecon. These lines are cold formed, as are all our lines, and shaped by a series of rolls specifically designed to form the open section into the desired profile. These open sections can be cold-formed from mild steel as well as pre-galvanized material (Z275 and Z450) and 3CR12. Open sections can be rolled to the customer’s size specification and can be rolled to length. Using an inline punching mechanism holes can also be punched in the cold formed open section. Although Tubecon's facilities allow free choice of the lipped channel dimensions, stock is kept of standard lip channel dimensions.
